Specialist in the treatment of urological problems in women
A space created by Dr. Ghislaine Armengod, a specialist in female urology, dedicated to providing professional and empathetic care to urological disorders affecting women.
Although urology has historically been associated with men, it is increasingly clear that many women face urological problems that deserve specialized care: incontinence, prolapses, recurrent urinary tract infections, and pelvic floor disorders, which profoundly affect their physical, emotional, social, and even professional quality of life.
At Urofem, we offer a safe, modern setting with evidence-based treatments focused on restoring your well-being with personalized care and real solutions.
Did you know that more than 50% of women over 40 experience some degree of urinary incontinence? Despite being so common, many people live with it in silence, thinking it’s a natural part of aging or that there’s no cure. The reality is different: urinary incontinence is not normal and it does have a treatment.
There are different types of incontinence: stress incontinence (when coughing, laughing, or lifting heavy objects), urgency incontinence (when you can’t get to the bathroom in time), mixed incontinence, or incontinence related to other conditions such as infections, hormonal changes, previous surgeries, or pelvic floor problems. Each has different causes and requires a personalized approach.
Most importantly, you are not alone, and you don’t have to resign yourself to it. Incontinence can profoundly affect your quality of life: it limits your physical activity, affects your sleep, creates insecurity, and can impact your self-esteem and sex life. My focus as a urologist specializing in women’s health is to help you regain control, confidence, and freedom.
I am Dr. Ghislaine Armengod, originally from Mérida, Yucatán, where I grew up and earned my undergraduate degree in Medicine and Surgery at Anáhuac-Mayab University. I moved to Mexico City in 2007 to complete my Community Service program in a Ministry of Health Research program at the National Institute of Neurology and Neurosurgery. Upon completion, I began my specialty at the Hospital General de México. The Urology Service at the Hospital General de México “Dr. Eduardo Liceaga” is recognized for its long history and leadership in the specialty nationwide. Founded in 1924 by Dr. Aquilino Villanueva, it has been a pioneer in the training of specialists and research in the field of urology.
After completing my residency, I was seconded from the hospital where I trained and was later offered the position of head of the urology service at the Hospital de la Mujer in Mexico City.
For the next four years, I was in charge of a urology service exclusively for women, specializing in reconstructive urology and pelvic floor disorders.
In addition to my training as a urologist, I completed a Master’s degree in Public Policy from the Autonomous Technological Institute of Mexico (ITAM) and a Diploma in Hospital Administration from the Marist University in Mérida, which led me to hold administrative positions in public hospitals.
For the past two years, I have been exclusively dedicated to private practice, where I practice general urology, treating men and women, but with a special focus on women’s urological conditions.
We offer comprehensive and personalized care for women’s urinary and pelvic health, addressing everything from recurrent infections and incontinence to prolapse and other conditions that affect daily life. With accurate diagnoses, effective treatments, and a trusting environment, our specialized approach helps prevent and treat problems that impact quality of life, providing health, comfort, and security at every stage.

No, we treat conditions in both men and women.
Although female urology and gynecology may share some conditions, urology focuses on the urinary tract and the pelvic floor disorders that can affect it: cystitis, recurrent urinary tract infections, urinary incontinence, overactive bladder, prolapsed bladder, interstitial cystitis, among others.
No, for these studies you must go to a gynecologist.
Incontinence can have many causes and not all of them require surgical treatment….
I am certified in private hospitals in Mérida, and surgeries can be performed at the hospital of your choice.
I highly recommend Dr. Ghislaine. Highly experienced, friendly, explains very clearly, provides excellent care, is compassionate, and is very punctual.
